KATATONIA To Release New Single In March
January 23, 2007Sweden's KATATONIA has issued the following update:
"'July' has been chosen as the third single taken from 'The Great Cold Distance'. Apart from the title track, the single will also feature a brand new/unreleased downhearted affair called 'Unfurl'. There will also be an exclusive remix of 'Soil's Song' done by none other than Swedish artist Krister Linder — highly respected and admired for his work in ENTER THE HUNT, DIVE and various soundtracks/projects. Additionally, a new video has once again been shot and directed by Charlie Granberg and will be included on the physical single. The release dates are February 26th for the digital download and March 26th for the CD single."
According to a posting on KATATONIA's official web site, Fascination Street studio owner and producer Jens Bogren will mix the band's "The Great Cold Distance" album in 5.1 Surround Sound. The effort will be released as a double digipack, with the 5.1 mix on Disc 1 and the original album version plus two bonus tracks ("Displaced" and "Dissolving Bonds") on disc 2. The entire layout has been mirrored to a negative look of the original art to enhance and differentiate the packaging. The release date is set for March 12 via Peaceville Records.
As previously reported, Peaceville has bought rights to the masters of KATATONIA's back catalog previously released on Avantgarde Music and is remastering and reissuing all the full-length albums in digipack format. First up was "Brave Murder Day" (1996),also featuring the "Sounds of Decay" EP (1997) as a bonus, along with revamped artwork and liner notes from the band. Peaceville has also bought the rights to some of the KATATONIA members' sideprojects, including DIABOLICAL MASQUERADE and OCTOBER TIDE, with reissues to follow in the near future.
KATATONIA's video for the track "Deliberation" has been posted online at YouTube.com. The clip was shot and directed by Charlie Granberg, who also worked with the group on their "My Twin" video.
"Deliberation" is the second single from KATATONIA's new album, "The Great Cold Distance". The follow-up to 2003's "Viva Emptiness" was recorded at Fascination Street studios in the outskirts of Örebro, Sweden and was mastered at the Cutting Room in Stockholm.
